The Ithaca College volleyball team split a pair of matches against Empire 8 competitors Nazareth College and Stevens Institute of Technology Sept. 24 in Hoboken, New Jersey.

The Bombers picked up a 3–0 win against the Nazareth Golden Flyers, but ultimately dropped its second match of the day 3–0 to Stevens.

In the first set against the Golden Flyers, the South Hill squad won 25–17. In the second set, the Golden Flyers were on the verge of a win, but the Bombers came out on top 25–23. In the third and final set, the Blue and Gold won 25-13 to complete the sweep.

Freshman outside hitter Taylor McCarthy led the team with 11 kills.  Freshman setter Caitlyn Floyd and sophomore defensive specialist Tara Stilwell led the team with eight digs each.

In their second match of the day, the Bombers took a loss to the Stevens Institute of Technology Ducks. In the first set, the Bombers took a 20–17 lead, five points away from a set win. The Bombers and Ducks took the set into extra points, and the Ducks eventually won the set 30–28.

In the second set, the Ducks had a 13–5 lead to start. The Blue and Gold kept fighting, as they cut the lead to 18–14. They continued to narrowed the gap to two points. However, the Ducks emerged victorious with a final score of 25–23 to take a 2–0 lead in the match. Stevens also won the third set, 25–18, to complete the sweep.  

Sophomore middle hitter Katie Evans led the team the Bombers with 12.5 points in the match. Stilwell led the team with 27 digs, while Evans and junior opposite outside hitter Caroline Gerulskis had a team-high nine kills.

The Bombers return to action against another Empire 8 competitor, Alfred University, at 7 p.m. Sept. 27 when they travel to Alfred, New York.
