Jenni Monet reports on the history of violence and injustice against Native Americans for Indigenously. Monet has a free weekly newsletter that gives attention to issues like the disproportionate deaths and disappearances of Native women and girls that larger media fails to address as a constant experience for the community. 

IC announces the 2022 annual Izzy Award winners

Park Center for Independent Media has announced its 2022 Izzy Award winners including two journalists and three media outlets.
The college also announced that Jeff White ’98 visual effects supervisor and creative director for the Vancouver studio of Industrial Light and Magic, and Amy Goodman, founder of Democracy Now!, will receive honorary Doctor of Letters degrees. Senior Leticia Guibunda will be the student speaker.

Amy Goodman, co-host of Democracy Now! and one of the first recipients of the Izzy Award, visited campus Sunday evening and addressed a packed Park Auditorium about the need for independent media. This year, Mother Jones, a nonprofit news organization, will receive the Izzy Award on April 17.
