The governing body of Cornell fraternities — the Interfraternity Council (IFC) — suspended fraternity parties and social events Nov. 7 for the remainder of Fall 2022. The IFC did not respond to multiple requests for comment.

Patterns of sexual violence and hazing persist in fraternities

Fraternities at Cornell University have made it into headlines in many major publications for reports of drink-spiking and a sexual assault at fraternity parties.
The college sent out an alert Feb. 2, notifying the campus community of the changes. The college said they will continue to review the weather forecast and ongoing conditions.

Severe weather conditions move IC to remote learning Feb. 3

Faculty Council discusses search for the next IC president

The Ithaca College Faculty Council discussed the search for the next president of the college and the college’s response to COVID-19 during Sept. 14 meeting.
In April 2021, the college announced that all students must be vaccinated in order to return to campus for the fall semester. Students were required to submit their vaccination cards to the Hammond Health Center by July 19.

Student vaccination rate reaches over 99% for fall semester

Ithaca College has required students to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19, resulting in over 99% of the student population being vaccinated. 
The Office of Public Safety and Emergency Management (OPS) is working to increase use of Rave Guardian, the college’s public safety app, among the campus community and at other Ithaca College campuses. While Rave Guardian was introduced to the college’s campus in April 2021, Samm Swarts, associate director of Emergency Preparedness and Response, said the app was launched at the Ithaca College London Center (ICLC) on Aug. 23 and will be available at the Ithaca College Los Angeles campus starting in Spring 2023.

Department of Public Safety launches new mobile app

Ithaca College has launched a new app component of its emergency notification system, the Rave Guardian mobile app.
Ronald Trunzo, associate director of the Office of Residential Life and the Office of Student Conduct and Community Standards, said that since Jan. 1, there were 115 people who used the Community Agreement Reporting Form to report violations.

IC students violate COVID-19 community agreement

Ithaca College has security filters to block suspicious emails. However, some, like the scam where  criminals pose as potential employers to get victims to buy iTunes gift cards, manage to get through.
