It is our duty to constructively hold these centers of power to account as they entrench themselves in abhorrent practices across the Central New York region.
Michael Leary, assistant director for the Office of Judicial Affairs, said the colleges policies regarding hate speech align with the precedent set by the Supreme Court that all speech is protected unless it creates a clear and present danger.

Ithaca College community weighs in on hate speech policy

After the IC Republicans posted a statement to its Facebook page politicizing the death of Mollie Tibbetts, questions have been raised about hate speech policies at the the college.
Junior Talia Jean Weindling found the words “F--- Black people” in the gender-neutral bathroom on the third floor of Williams Hall on April 19.

Junior Talia Jean Weindling reported seeing the words “F--- Black people” to the Office of Public Safety and Emergency Management.
Black Students United at Cornell University interrupted a University Assembly’s meeting to demand changes to the college’s campus code of conduct regarding free speech after a series of racial incidents that happened on or near Cornell Universitys campus.
