Football takes revenge game in nail-biting fashion

The Ithaca College football team continued its hot hand with a 13-7 nail-biter of a win over the Hobart College Statesmen on Sept. 27 at Butterfield Stadium.
Former NFL fullback/tight end Ben Mason joined the Bombers last spring as the team's new running backs/tight ends coach. Along with receivers coach Will Gladney and linebackers coach Will Margraff, the three share deep prior connections with the program.

Deep connection shines through on football coaching staff

One Beat. The motto of the Ithaca College football team emphasizes togetherness and an almost brotherly connection. This season, the Bombers have relied on three new coaches who all have deep roots with the program. On March 24, the Bombers announced the hiring of assistant coaches Ben Mason, Will Margraff, and Will Gladney ’20. Mason was brought in to coach both running backs and tight ends, while Gladney was brought in to coach wide receivers and Margraff to coach linebackers.

Football sees slow start to season

The Ithaca College football team could not muster a revenge game as the No. 3 Johns Hopkins University Blue Jays defeated the Bombers for the third straight season, with a final score of 42-14 on Sept. 6 at Butterfield Stadium.

Like father like son, senior defensive back earns All-American nod

With his recent First Team All-American selection, senior defensive back Jake Connolly followed in the footsteps of his father, Scott Connolly ʼ96, who earned his All-American selection in 1995. The Connolly’s became the second father-son duo in program history to both earn All-American honors. 
The Ithaca College and SUNY Cortland football teams renew their rivalry with the 65th annual Cortaca Jug game Nov. 16. The Bombers fell to the Red Dragons in the 2023 Cortaca Jug match.

The Ithaca College football team shook off a string of offensive woes from the first few games to overwhelm the undefeated University of Rochester in a 24-0 victory on Oct.12 for their first home victory.

The No. 20 Ithaca College Football Team fell to the No. 8 Johns Hopkins University on Sept. 7, with a final score of 27-23.

The No. 18 Ithaca College football team traveled to Springfield, Massachusetts on Nov. 18, for a first-round matchup with the Springfield College Pride. After coming out victorious over the Pride in the second round of the NCAA tournament in 2022, the Bombers once again proved their dominance with a 21–7 win to survive and advance.

Breaking ground at the all-new Bertino Field at Butterfield Stadium, the Ithaca College football team opened Liberty League play with a 24–14  win against the Hobart College Statesmen on Sept. 29.
In June 2023, Chenango Contracting began the construction of Bertino Field at Butterfield Stadium, a donor-funded artificial turf field. Ithaca College was granted a temporary certificate of occupancy Sept. 15, deeming the field usable.

Bombers anticipate football’s home opener on new turf field

On Nov. 29, 2022, Ithaca College announced its plans to upgrade its natural grass football field to artificial turf. Just under a year later, the Ithaca College football team is preparing to compete on Bertino Field at Butterfield Stadium for the first time.
