The Ithaca College women’s crew competed at the NCAA Division III Championships on May 27–28 in in Gold River, California and took sixth overall in the varsity eight grand final. They qualified for the championships after receiving one of two at-large bids.
The Bombers fell to sixth midway through the race. First place finishers Wellesley College was able to gain a lead over the five other competitors in the finals. The Bombers completed the race in 7:01.460, about 14 seconds behind Wellesley.
The Bombers began their competition in the heats May 26, placing third with a time of 6:56.481 behind Williams College and Wesleyan University and qualifying them for the repechage later that day.
In the repechage, they finished second with a time of 7:14.294, qualifying them for the finals the next day.
The varsity 8 boat, which consists of sophomores Libby Burns, Emily Vosburg, Colby D’Onofrio and Karina Feitner, junior Jacqueline McDevitt, seniors Melinda Keene, Emily Morley and Krista Syracuse, and graduate student Jennie Peterson, has been making waves all season.
They are ranked fourth in the nation and had six first-place finishes this season, including a New York State Championship title April 30 and a top finish at the Dad Vail Regatta on May 14.
This competition concluded the Bombers season.
