Ithaca College cross-country competes at Paul Short Run

The men’s and women’s cross-country teams competed in the Paul Short Run Oct. 1 at Lehigh University. The women’s team finished in eighth place with a team score of 266, and the men’s team finished in 16th place with a team score of 550.

A total of 42 schools competed in the women’s race and 45 in the men’s race. The male competitors raced in an 8k while the females raced in a 6k. There were 401 male entries and 373 female entries.

Princeton University’s cross-country teams won both races, with the men scoring 68 points and the women scoring 44 points.

Junior Taryn Cordani led the Bombers with a second-place finish as an individual with a time of 20:54. Her mile pace of 5:36 was tied for the best among the field with two runners from St. Lawrence University, junior Megan Kellogg and senior Lisa Grohn.

The next highest scorer for the women’s team was junior Denise Ibarra, who ran a pace of 5:47 and a total time of 21:34 en route to a 17th place finish.

For the men’s team, senior Sean Phillips led the Bombers with an 11th place finish and a time of 24:56. Junior Tim Chappell came in 83rd with a time of 25:45.

The next race for both squads will be at noon Oct. 8 at Hamilton College.
