1. Writers Malcolm Hillgartner and Jahnna Beecham, who are involved in the audiobook industry as well as other theater experiences, visited Ithaca College on Monday and Tuesday for an informal discussion and workshop with students about audio book recording and playwriting. 2. The Ithaca College chapter of the National Residence Hall Honorary is looking for student groups to sponsor an activity in Emerson Suites for the annual Emerson Halloween. Staff and faculty members are invited to bring their children to trick-or-treat around the residence hall. The event is from 6-8 p.m. on Oct. 27, and lounge spaces must be reserved. Student groups interested should reserve their lounge space before Fall Break.
3. Cornell NYC Tech announced that they will offer a two-year master’s of science degree in information technology with a concentration in connective media. Cornell Tech will collaborate with the New York Times, Hearst Corporation, Tumblr and Facebook to create an immersive experience for students. The program at Cornell NYC Tech will begin in the fall of 2014.

1. Do you have an extra $5 burning a hole in your pocket? The Chicken Wing Fling is at 7 p.m. on the second floor atrium in the Business School. Sponsored by the Ithaca College chapter of the American Marketing Association, the event will invite local vendors to showcase their signature wings for students to judge which are the best in Ithaca.
2. A screening of the film “Gay Pioneers” will be held at 7 p.m. in Textor 101. The film is about the first organized gay civil rights demonstrations in Philadelphia, New York and Washington, D.C., from 1965–1969.
3. IC Book Club will meet at 7 p.m. to discuss their first book of the semester, “The House of the Scorpion” by Nancy Farmer. The location will be announced on their Facebook page.

Did you know people tend to consume more wine if they drink white wine, choose wine glasses that are wider and hold the glass while they pour? Researchers at Cornell conducted a study with students of legal drinking age who said they drank at least one glass of wine a week, and the university’s study found that when glasses were wider, and when students held their glasses, about 12 percent more wine was poured.
