Ithaca College Eco Reps are seeking volunteers for Friday food donations
Ithaca College Eco Reps is seeking volunteers for its food donation events from 7:45-8:45 p.m. on Fridays at the Campus Center Dining Hall. The group helps combat food waste by packaging and labeling unused food to give to those in need. The donations are collected through the Friendship Donations Network, a local nonprofit organization.
Mandatory detours on South Aurora as construction on the road continues
Members of the Ithaca College community who travel to campus through South Aurora Street should be aware that the road construction project impacting the street is expected to extend through the end of the month. The construction on the street began after an Oct. 18 water main break. The road is estimated to be reopened Dec. 1. Drivers who go through South Aurora Street or connecting streets are encouraged to plan alternative routes and allocate extra time for their commute during the remainder of the construction.
Award-winning journalist Will Potter visiting campus for a master class
The Park Center for Independent Media is hosting a master class with Will Potter, an award-winning investigative journalist. The master class will be held from 10–11:30 a.m. Nov. 18 in the Robert A. Iger Lecture Hall located in the James J. Whalen Center for Music room 2105. Potter was the first investigative journalist to be named a TED Senior Fellow. He has also spoken to the United States Congress, the Australian Parliament and the Council of Europe. Some of Potter’s investigative works include “Green Is the New Red,” which exposed the FBI’s targeting of environmentalists, and his new book, “Little Red Barns: Hiding the Truth from Farm to Fable,” is a 10-year investigation of factory farms and fascism. Park Center for Independent Media to screen “Earth’s Greatest Enemy”
The Park Center for Independent Media is screening a documentary on the environmental toll exacted by the U.S. military industrial complex from 4-6:30 p.m. Nov. 12 in the Park Auditorium inside Roy H. Park Hall. The documentary, titled “Earth’s Greatest Enemy,” was created by independent journalist Abby Martin. The screening of the documentary will be followed by a Q&A session with Martin. November break registration forms for students now open on IC Workflow
Students looking to stay on campus for November break can fill out the November Break Housing Registration form through IC Workflow. Students can register to stay in their current housing assignment during November break. Students looking to stay at Ithaca College over November break must register by 5 p.m. Nov. 20. Break housing begins at noon Nov. 22. Limited residential life services are going to be available during the break period. Regular residential life services will resume at noon Nov. 30.
Office of Marketing Communications to host Web and Brand office hours
The Ithaca College Office of Marketing Communications will host Web and Brand office hours twice in November. The office hours began 2:30-4 p.m. Nov. 3 and run to 10-11:30 a.m. Nov. 20 in the Peggy Ryan Williams Center MarCom Suite collaborative space. Zoom support can also be requested by emailing [email protected]. The office hours provide an opportunity for IC faculty and staff to connect directly with the MarCom team for help and guidance. The office hours are going to be run by Allison Usavage, senior director of design and multimedia, and Kieran Gainer, web operations manager, along with other members of the MarCom marketing, creative and web teams. Attendees are also encouraged to share feedback. No appointment is necessary to attend office hours.
