State Assembly to allocate funds for fracking health study

A comprehensive health study of hydraulic fracturing will be included in the New York State Assembly’s 2012-2013 budget, according to a press release from Assemblywoman Barbara Lifton. The Assembly has allocated $100,000 for the study in relation to high-volume hydraulic fracturing.

Ithaca Journal eyes pay wall

Gannett, the largest newspaper company in the country with more than 80 daily newspapers including the Ithaca Journal, unveiled plans last week to create metered online pay walls by the end of the year. Within the next year, the Ithaca Journal’s online readers will need to pay to view certain content.
