When many athletes would be forced to give up their sport, Ithaca College gives student-athletes the chance to transfer to the college in pursuit of an exercise science master’s degree while finishing out their NCAA eligibility with a varsity sports team.Â

The Ithaca College men’s basketball team kept its momentum rolling with a hard-fought 63-60 victory over the Hobart College Statesmen, improving to 11-6 on the season. With five wins in their last six games, the Bombers are now just half a game out of first place in the Liberty League Championship Tournament standings, and the team has an all-time record of 25-7 at home versus the Statesmen.

On their annual senior day, the Ithaca College swimming and diving teams sent their seniors out with one of its biggest dual meet wins of the season Jan. 25 at the Kelsey Partridge Bird Natatorium. The Bombers took down the Gannon University Golden Knights, with the men’s team winning 195-96 and the women’s team winning 204.5-93.5. It was the largest margin of victory for the men and the third largest for the women this season.

While the Ithaca College student and faculty body returned home for winter break, many varsity teams remained in action over the break. Basketball, swimming and diving, track and field, men’s wrestling and gymnastics all competed during the academic recess, putting up multiple impressive performances.

The Ithaca College men’s basketball team has had to navigate through adversity early on in the season as several key rotational pieces have been sidelined with injuries. However, led by the emergence of first-year forward Chris Leysath, the Bombers find themselves with a 9–5 record and are 6–1 in Liberty League competition.Â

With his recent First Team All-American selection, senior defensive back Jake Connolly followed in the footsteps of his father, Scott Connolly ʼ96, who earned his All-American selection in 1995. The Connolly’s became the second father-son duo in program history to both earn All-American honors.Â

The Hamilton College Continentals held off a scrappy Ithaca College Bombers team 73-70. The Bombers suffered their first home loss in Ben Light Gymnasium, dropping the team to a 5-3 record before a long three-week layoff.
